Acuna Wins Impressive Award in First Month
Braves phenom Ronald Acuna keeps racking up the awards and accolades. In his first full month in Triple-A, Acuna won the International League Player of the Month.
The 19-year old outfielder hit .364 in August, led the league with 47 hits, and 24 runs scored. Acuna smashed 4 home runs, stole 7 bases and racked up 20 RBIs.
Acuna was Player of the Week, August 14-20, when he hit .481, with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.
The last Gwinnett Braves player to win a Player of the Month award was Mallex Smith in 2015. The Braves played Smith’s Durham Bulls yesterday (Labor Day). Acuna went 2 for 4 with a home run as he led the G-Braves to a 3-0 victory, while Smith went 0 for 3.
Manny Barreda pitched 7 shutout innings, giving up only 2 hits while walking three and striking out 7.
